Brenda Price
June 27, 1947 - September 27, 2016
Brenda Jean Bolin Price, 69, of rural Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on September 27, 2016 at her home. She was born June 27, 1947 to Jesse Lowell and Nina Edith Wilson Bolin in Ottumwa, Iowa. She married Robert Gene Price on April 17, 1964 at the Sherman Chapel Church north of Belknap, Iowa. She attended the Soap Center #4 country school until 6th grade, went to the Belknap School for 7th and 8th grade, and was very proud of the fact that she graduated in the class of 1965 from Davis County High School. Family was very important to her. She had four children, Rebecca and Tom Stanford of Donnellson, Iowa, Robb and Hazel Price of Bloomfield, Ronda Ellerman of Mt. Sterling, Illinois, and Rex Price of rural Moulton, Iowa and one special bonus child, Walker Malone of Vacaville, California. She was Grandma to Melissa Malone, Christina Malone Finn, Nathan, Kyle and Jacob Stanford, Michelle and Michael Ellerman, Kilshandra and Keir Price, Abby Mills and Jinni Hanson. She was Great-Grandma to Marvin Ziva Metz Malone, Carter Stanford-Cantrall, and Jonathan, Benton, and Emori Stanford-Altemus. She was very close to her siblings: Betty and Eldon Spurgeon, Gerald and Lois Bolin, Bondeena and Carl Sample, and Benita Gideon. Her husband’s family included his parents: Donald and Mary Louise Price, and his siblings; Darlene and Delbert Eakins and Jerry and Shirley Price. She was proud to be aunt to many nieces and nephews. Brenda and Bobby’s major goal was to pay for the farm. They were an amazing team. They accomplished this with Bobby working in town and Brenda keeping things going on the farm. Although through the years, she also provided child care, detailed flat roofs, and drove for the Amish in the community. She loved her goats, hogs, cattle, and most of all, her sheep. She enjoyed using the farm equipment to plant, cultivate, and combine corn and beans, and was very good with custom haying. She was exceptionally self-sufficient and would grow, build, create, and repair before she would purchase an item. She was physically very strong and could work circles around most other people. She also was very organized and kept the farm running on well-oiled wheels. She had an amazing talent at encouraging each family member’s special abilities and bringing them together to make a team. Another talent she had was making each person she knew feel like they were important and loved. She loved music and singing while she worked. She appreciated beauty in nature and continually shared what she noticed with those around her; a pretty leaf, the sunset, baby foxes, a bright rock, a blue heron, an animal track, a rainbow. She loved flowers and flowering weeds. She hated mornings! Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Sherman Chapel Church in Davis County with Rev. Donna Olinger officiating. Burial will be at the Sherman Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Southern Iowa Produce Auction House south of Drakesville, Iowa. A memorial has been established to the Sherman Chapel Repair Fund or Hospice Care Incorporated of Centerville, Iowa.
