Cindy Spurgeon

Cynthia Jane Spurgeon, 75, of rural Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on June 1, 2022 at her home. She was born on August 9, 1946 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Doyle and Ruth Rominger Swaim. She graduated from Davis County High School in 1964. Cindy married Mike Spurgeon on April 5, 1965 in Michigan. Cindy worked for the US Postal Service in Bloomfield for over 25 years. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing cards in a card club for over 20 years, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and taking care of her cat, Lucy. Cindy was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Mike Spurgeon; daughter, Samantha Spurgeon of Bloomfield; son, Doug (Denise) Spurgeon of Oskaloosa, Iowa; three grandchildren, Christopher Spurgeon, Miranda (Justin) Rozendaal, Marjie (Cory) Halupnik; four great-grandchildren, Henry and Raelynn Rozendaal, Ella and Lee Halupnik; and a sister, Suzy (Phil) Wright of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Sara Spurgeon. Cindy’s wish was to be cremated. A visitation with family present to greet friends will be from 2-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Bloomfield United Methodist Church. A memorial has been established to the Friends of the Bloomfield Public Library.
