James Merrill Marlow, 80, of rural Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on July 26, 2019 at the Bloomfield Care Center. He was born January 10, 1939 in Glenwood, Missouri to Roy Dewitt and Goldie Wanetta Leedom Marlow. He married Carol Loudon on January 16, 1960 in Morris, Illinois. The couple lived in Illinois for a few years before buying a farm and moving to Davis County. After a few years of living in Iowa, they moved to Cape Coral, Florida where they stayed for 12 years, eventually returning to their farm in Davis County. Carol passed away on December 9, 2014. Over the years, James worked construction and also farmed. He enjoyed woodworking, playing pitch, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Mark Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Susan Nevins (Jim) Fletcher, Patricia (David) Stremler both of Bloomfield; son, Roger (Mileta) Marlow of Bloomfield; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Brent) Kimbrell, Matthew (Kristen) Nevins, Travis (Gretchen) Marlow, Michael (Alissa) Marlow, Ryan Marlow, Kayle Suzanne Stremler, Kolton Stremler, Kassidy Stremler; twelve great-grandchildren; and a brother, Roy Dewitt Marlow II of Hardin, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son-in-law, Rodney Nevins; a sister; and two brothers. Memorial services will be at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2019 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Jonathan Kaushal officiating. James’ wish was to be cremated. No visitation is planned. Burial of the cremated remains will be at the Howell Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established for the restoration of Howell Cemetery.
