Janet Boone

Janet Kay Boone, 80, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on September 10, 2023 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield. She was born on February 7, 1943 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Garold and Iris Howell Van Horn. Janet graduated from Davis County High School in 1961. On April 19, 1964, she married Richard Boone at the Bloomfield Christian Church. The couple spent many wonderful years together and raised two children; Vanessa and Scott. Janet worked at the Davis County Savings Bank (Success Bank) for 57 years, retiring on May 31, 2019. She was installed as Worthy Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star and was active for many years. She was an accomplished cook and talented seamstress. Janet enjoyed gardening, shopping, and playing cards with friends. She was a supportive, loving, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and never missed an event that they participated in. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Richard Boone; daughter, Vanessa (Jake) Davidson of Bloomfield; son, Scott (Sheena White) Boone of Bloomfield; seven grandchildren, Kelsey Boone, Aisha (Braulio Garcia) Boone, Kaylie (Colton) Boas, Kylie Barber, Conner (Samantha) Davidson, Christopher Davidson, Kobe Boone; five great-grandchildren, Kaison Schwering, Parker Boas, Hallie Boas, Anniston Barber, Braelynn Davidson; sister, Connie (Chris) Denny of Agency, Iowa; three brothers-in-law, Allan (Deena) Boone, Bob (Susan) Boone both of Phoenix, Arizona, Jon (Rhonda) Boone of Leesburg, Florida; and three sisters-in-law, Lori Wyse of Phoenix, Bev Christofferson of Johnston, Iowa, and Lana Boone of Lake City, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Rodney Van Horn; mother and father-in-law, Russell and Margaret Boone; niece, Stefanie Jo Boone; and three brothers-in-law, Jerry Christofferson, Larry Boone, and Jerome Wyse. Janet’s wish was to be cremated. Visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial will be at the Drakesville Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family with the intent of purchasing a park bench in her name at the Bloomfield City Park.
