Jerry Bish

Jerry Lee Bish, 77, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away September 15, 2017 at the Bloomfield Care Center. He was born October 7, 1939 in Ottumwa, Iowa to James E. and Mabel I. Richardson Bish. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1958. Jerry married Carmen Georg on November 25, 1985 in Dakota City, Nebraska. Jerry was a trainer and breeder of thoroughbred horses and also worked as an auctioneer for himself and Horn’s Auction Service. He had a great passion for the two professions and genuinely loved to work in both fields. While not working, he enjoyed watching basketball, football, horse racing and especially liked spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also had a soft spot in his heart for his two dogs, Boots and Herbie. Jerry was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church and also a member of the Iowa H.B.P.A. where he had served on the board for many years. He is survived by his wife, Carmen Bish of Bloomfield; son, Dickie (Lisa) Bish of Bloomfield; two daughters, Sonia (Charles) Cook of Downing, Missouri, McKenzie (Cyrus) Lyle of Sioux City, Iowa; four grandsons, Brandon (Lori) Bish, Bradly Bish, George Bragg, Dean (Hallie) Bragg; eight great-grandchildren, Tayden and Tucker Bish, Dylan, Brody, Dean Jr., Braxton, Alexis, and Gracie Bragg; and long-time friend of 64 years, David McCoy. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Bish; daughter, Lindsey Bish; brother, James C. Bish; and son-in-law, Joe Bragg. Graveside services with burial of the cremated remains will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield with Pastor Dennis Luft officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
