Jerry Downing

Jerry Downing, 79, of Fayette, Missouri, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022, at The Bluffs in Columbia, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Centerpoint Church in Columbia, Missouri. Visitation will be from 10-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Funeral services will also be held on Friday, June 10, 2022, at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Troy cemetery in Troy, Iowa. Jerry L. Downing was born December 30, 1942, the son of Roy and Myra Downing. He worked for many years at GTE and then retired from Verizon. He graduated high school in 1960 from Troy High School. and enlisted in the US Navy. He served in the Vietnam War aboard the USS Baya. He married Anna Mae Shepherd on August 27, 1961, and she preceded him in death in 2014. He was a Mr. Fixit and he loved fixing juke boxes and radios. He also loved collecting antiques and going to auctions. He is survived by a daughter, Joy Barbero of Columbia, Missouri; son, Jay (Natalie) Downing of Fulton, Missouri; four grandchildren, Julia, Luke, Andrea, Bethany; and one great-grandchild, Connor. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna Downing; sister, Mary; and brother, Dale.
