Kenneth Smalley

Kenneth Edward Smalley, 77, of rural Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on February 1, 2021 at his home. He was born March 18, 1943 in Grand Junction, Iowa to William A. and Olive Irene Harris Smalley. He married Lois Jean Stewart on June 10, 1965 in Fruita, Colorado. Kenneth raised, butchered, and processed rabbits. He also sold equipment for rabbit harvesting and built cages. He loved working with rabbits and judged rabbit shows for the Davis County Fair and the Iowa State Fair. Over the years, he worked for Bass Manufacturing, Plexico, and Wells Manufacturing, but his main passion was working with the rabbits. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, and was always working on something. Kenneth will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Jean Smalley; son, Stan (Mary) Smalley Sr. of Bloomfield; five grandchildren, Julie Skipper of Reidsville, North Carolina, Kenneth Smalley of Bloomfield, Iowa, Stan (Raechel) Smalley Jr. of Pella, Iowa, Jessica Smalley of Hamilton, Missouri, Waylon Smalley of Bloomfield; four great-granddaughters, Kristina Smalley, Layla Murphy, Kenidi Smalley, Lily Jean Smalley; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, William and Robert Smalley; and two infant sisters. Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021 at the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be held at a later date. Memorials have been established to the Davis County FFA and Davis County 4-H.
