Margery Bridgman, 91, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away October 21, 2016 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born October 23, 1924 in Hollybush, Wales to John and Marjory Llewellyn Thomas. She was a WWII bride, marrying Oris Wayne Bridgman on June 4, 1945 in Malvern, England. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1996. Margery worked as a cook at the Davis County Hospital for 32 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church and Rebekah Lodge #1 of Bloomfield. In her free time, Margery enjoyed knitting and watching the Chicago Cubs. She also loved all animals, especially cats, dogs, and cardinal birds. She is survived by two brothers, Lyn Thomas of Cardiff, Wales, Ivor Thomas of Liverpool, England; a sister, Rachel Burns of Cardiff, Wales; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Shirley Tucker of Bloomfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Rebecca Poulton, Margaret Millard, an infant sister; and an infant brother. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Jim Wakelin officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday with friends gathering from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield Care Center Activity Fund and the Heartland Humane Society in Ottumwa.
