John Milton “Mick” Finn II, 74, of Bloomfield, Iowa died August 18, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born December 1, 1939 in San Antonio, Texas to John M. and Ethel A. Lynn Finn. He served in the United States Army for 22 years, retiring as a colonial. Mick was an active member in several area organizations volunteering his time for the Bloomfield Optimist Club, Bloomfield Main Street and the Davis County Fine Arts Council. He was a member of Reed-Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield and a member of the V.F.W. He is survived by two sons, William Scott Finn of Kansas City, Missouri, John M. Finn III of Topeka, Kansas; a grandson, Zachery Finn; a granddaughter, Liv Finn; Three step-children, Julie Hall of Chandler, Arizona, Ann Albertson of Chico, California, Rob Cassube of Alexandria, Virginia; a brother, Brian Charles Finn of McCoy, Oregon; and long-time life partner, Phyllis Nelson of Bloomfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tonya K. Finn; and a sister, Kathleen Taggart. Visitation with family present to greet friends will be from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date at the Bethel Cemetery in McCoy, Oregon. A memorial has been established to the Wounded Warrior Project.
