Rex Ball Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rex Eugene Ball, 78, of Milan, Missouri and former resident of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on July 9, 2022 at the Milan Healthcare Center. He was born on November 1, 1943 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Dale Edgar and Lois Louise Grissom Ball. Rex served in the Army during Vietnam. On September 30, 1967 he married Judy Garber in Eldon, Iowa. Judy passed away on September 30, 2017 - their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Rex worked at the Bloomfield Livestock Market for 32 years. He enjoyed bowling in league and served as president of the board for several years. Rex also enjoyed going to car races, attending Old Threshers in Mt. Pleasant, watching harness racing in Eldon, and attending the Davis County Rodeo. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending all their sporting events over the years. Rex will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his son, Jimmy (Martha) Ball of Bloomfield; daughter, Paula (Tim) Otis of Anderson, Indiana; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly (John) Hewitt of Birmingham, Iowa; sister-in-law, Rosie Ball of Batavia, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Shannon McMurry; and a brother, Gene Ball. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2022 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Dave Schooley officiating. Cremation will follow the service with burial at the Compentine Cemetery in Wapello County, Iowa at a later date. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday with the family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to his family.
