Shirley Mishler

July 25, 1928 - February 11, 2022

Shirley Ann Mishler, 93, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on February 11, 2022 at her home. She was born on July 25, 1928 in Burlington, Iowa to Albert and Verna Sherer. She married Robert Berdine Mishler on January 17, 1954. He passed away on December 10, 1993. Shirley was a nurse's aide for many years, working at Silver Haven (Bloomfield Care Center) and then the Davis Center where she retired from. Shirley and Robert loved to travel and spent several winters in Texas. She was a people person and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was also deeply devoted to animals and had many pets over the years of which she very much enjoyed their companionship. Shirley was a member of the Stiles Christian Church and the Red Hat Society. She is survived by four children, Bob (Jean Vanderhorst) Mishler of Bloomfield, Richard Mishler of Bloomfield, Gary (Valerie) Mishler of Bloomfield, Rochelle "Shelly" (Doug) Hopkins of Pulaski, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her cat, Put. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four siblings, Orville Sherer, Opal Fisher, Betty Hand, and Leota Anderson; and too many pets to mention them all. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Nate Bruns officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial has been established and will be designated at a later date with the intentions of helping animals in some capacity.
