Brad Barker

Brad William Barker, 47, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on September 5, 2026. He was born on July 11, 1979, in Bloomfield to Clark William and Deborah Lynn Wilster Barker. He grew up in Davis County and at a young age discovered a passion for automobiles and motorcycles - riding his dirt bike over the old coal mines of Soap Creek with his family is a fond memory for all. His motto was, "Four wheels move the body, but two wheels move the soul." He naturally became an excellent diesel and automobile mechanic. There wasn't anything he couldn't accomplish with his intelligence and determination. He graduated from Davis County High School 1997. Brad was currently General Manager of Applebee's in Ottumwa where his leadership, laughter, and love will be missed by his coworkers. Brad found joy in pole & bow fishing, playing cribbage, and spending time with family. Known for his terrible dad jokes, competitive spirit, and tendency to cheat at games, Brad always brought laughter wherever he went. He loved working with his hands, taking on projects, teaching others, (welding or gardening) and enjoyed participation in demolition derbies. Above all, he was someone who was always willing to lend a hand and help anyone in need. He never left anyone stranded. His laughter, kindness, and unforgettable personality will be deeply missed. He is survived by his parents, Clark and Deborah Barker of Eddyville, Iowa; six children, Codi Neal, Destiny (Aaron Oleary) Barker, Mercedes Barker, Blake Barker all of Ottumwa, Iowa, Montana (Zach) Thorson of Norwalk, Iowa, Madilynn Barker of Lancaster, Missouri; sister, Amber (Andy) Ramos along with their children, Michaela, Andrew, and Isaac. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles Lowell and Jean Barker, James "JT" and Gladys Wilster; cousins, James Hulme, Josh Barker, Greyson Bankson; aunts and uncles, Patricia Vanderhoof, Connie Hulme, Brenda and Ernie King, Craig Barker; Best Friend, Jerry Hougland, Aaron Scott. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Jeff Hendred officiating. Burial will be at the Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa, Iowa. Visitation will begin at noon on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to Davis County Genealogy.
