Brad Huggins

Bradley Adam Huggins, 45, of rural Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on February 20, 2026, at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield. He was born on July 27, 1980, in Bloomfield, Iowa to Donald Eugene and Kathy Gaylene Roberts Huggins. He graduated from Davis County High School in 1999. After attending school in Ottumwa and Cedar Rapids, Brad returned home to Bloomfield to follow in his father Donnie’s footsteps, as an electrician for Huggins Electric. They spent more than twenty years working side by side, father and son. In 2021, Brad began a new career path, working at M3 in Bloomfield, as the Director of Maintenance. Brad was the epitome of a working man and enjoyed what he did, immensely. Brad married Jessica Hopkins on October 21, 2006, in a chilly, beautiful outdoor wedding held at Lake Wapello State Park, surrounded by their closest friends and family. In 2007, they welcomed their first child, a daughter, Gracie. Ten years later, they welcomed their son, Gavin. Brad loved his family fiercely and everything he did in life, he did for them. Brad loved to fish and camp. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing with his cats, watching college sports – especially Michigan State, and grilling anything he could fit on the grill. Brad was truly the life of the party. To say he never met a stranger, would be an understatement. He had a zest for life that most can only dream of, and he will forever be remembered for his laugh. Brad had a laugh that resonated through every molecule of the atmosphere. Brad was a devoted spouse, father, son, and brother. His work was never done. In short, Brad was everything to everyone and he will be dearly missed, by all. He is survived by his wife, Jessica; children, Gracie and Gavin both at home; mother, Kathy Huggins of Bloomfield; two brothers, Clint “Lou” Huggins of Liberty, Missouri, Blake Huggins of Bloomfield; father-and-mother-in-law, Doug and Shelly Hopkins of Bloomfield; brother-in-law, Kirk (Madison Snyder) Hopkins of Bloomfield; nieces and nephews, Sutton, Ella, Finley, and Knox; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Donnie Huggins; and grandparents, Floyd “Smoke” and Marlene Huggins, Rex and Wilda Roberts. He was also preceded in death by his very close friend, B.J. “Beej” Gooden. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Eben Konrad officiating. Visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to his family.
