Joe White

Joe Dean White, 93, of Troy, Iowa passed away on March 15, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa. He was born on October 1, 1930 near Savannah, Iowa to Fred Amos and Augie Hildred Brunk White Jr. Joe graduated from Troy High School in 1950. He served in the US Army in an infantry division during the Korean War from January 1952 until October 1953. He married Marilyn Wilfawn on July 29, 1955 in Pulaski, Iowa. She passed away on March 24, 2020. Joe was an over-the-road truck driver and farmer for many years. In the early 1960’s, he was able to stop driving and concentrate on farming full-time, raising livestock and row crops. He loved being a farmer and took great pride in his work. Outside of farming, Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, visiting with folks at Troy Elevator or the Troy Store, attending sporting events and other school activities his grandchildren participated in, and watching Wheel of Fortune and NCIS on television. Joe will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by three children, Doug (Connie) White of Bloomfield, Vicki (Phil) Seibert of Altoona, Iowa, Gary (Julia) White of Bloomfield; seven grandchildren, Brandi (Stewart) Shively, Boyd White, Betsy (Nathan) Gibson, Jeremy (Michelle) Seibert, Caleb Seibert, Lyndsi (Jon) Antal, Tyler (Shelby) White; 15 great-grandchildren, Sydney (Rylee Murry) Shively, Sadie Shively, Sutton Shively, Sophie Shively, Easton White, Mayci White, Jenna Gibson, Renae Gibson, Alexa Gibson, Lena Seibert, Mara Seibert, Casen Antal, Chayten Antal, Kaden White, Korbin White; a great-great-grandchild due in May; brother, Donnie White of Troy; sister, Judy Heidenreich of Columbia, Missouri; sister-in-law, Shirley White of Troy; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn White; two brothers, Jack and Johnny White; sister, Mary Ann Rodgers; three sisters-in-law, Alice White, Rita White, Marietta Morrison; and three brothers-in-law, Clair Rodgers, Bob Heidenreich, and Lyman Morrison. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Donna Olinger officiating. Burial with graveside military rites performed by Reed-Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion will be at the Troy Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Troy Cemetery.
