Lynita Glenn

Lynita Clarise (Bolin) Brown Glenn, 72, died June 18, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines after a brief illness. She was born December 31, 1953, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Geneva Bell Bolin and William DeLieth Bolin. Lynita grew up in Ottumwa, Unionville, Centerville and Bloomfield. She enjoyed participating in 4-H during her youth and was a 4-H member for six years. Lynita graduated from Davis County High School in 1973. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Ottumwa and later attended First Christian Church in Albia. Lynita married William (Bill) Brown in 1975, and they had two children – Cory and Audra. They later divorced. She was a strong advocate for her disabled children and lived in Piqua, Ohio for a short time so her children could receive specialized therapy. Lynita loved reading, horses, the TV series "Heartland," find-a-word puzzles, writing letters to friends, and crafting gifts for people she loved. She liked to find shapes, symbols and faces in the clouds. She also liked the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed cheering for her great-nephews at sporting events in Branson, Mo. In 2002, Lynita moved to Nixa, Mo. and lived in a group home for disabled adults, where she met Leslie "Sonny" Glenn. They married in 2006 and moved back to Ottumwa together. After her husband died in 2015, Lynita moved to Albia to live at Brees Rest Home. She enjoyed living close to her sister Denise Baker in Albia, and she loved spending time with the Brees Rest Home director, Heather Hindman, who became a dear friend. During her time living at Brees, Lynita loved the playful moments with her housemates, especially when they teased and joked with her, creating laughter and friendship that will be deeply missed. Her warm heart, creativity and joyful personality touched many lives, and her memory will continue to bring comfort to those who loved her. Lynita was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands. Lynita is survived by her two children, Cory Brown of Albia, and Audra (Jeremy) Aldridge of Ottumwa; her sister Denise (Dennis) Bolin Baker of Albia; half-sister Cathy Bolin Deitch of Ottumwa; aunt Dorene Bolin Shaw of Ohio; niece Amber Essary of Albia; niece Jenine Kurtz Conway of Branson, Mo; niece Jessica (Manuel) Kurtz Mozo of Nashville, Tenn; and seven great-nieces and great-nephews – Colsen, Abiola, Bryce, Javen, Brett, Shayla and Brielle. Lynita also has several surviving cousins, including Janette Barlow of Utah; Linda (Tom) Rail of Arizona; Barry (Nancy) Chew of Arizona; and Brad (Vicki) Chew of California. Visitation for Lynita will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with family present to greet friends. A funeral service will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place after the service at the Bloomfield IOOF Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Brees Rest Home, Inc. in Albia.
